This chakra is extra special because the crown chakra is your connection with the universe itself. As a result, it’s the highest energy portal or chakra within your system. But your crown chakra wouldn’t function nearly as powerfully or masterfully if not for the root chakra. The crown chakra and the root chakra are like the bookends of your chakra system, so they need one another to function efficiently. The crown chakra relies on the root chakra for stability, formidability, and strength. Thanks to the strong foundation your root chakra provides, your crown chakra receives collective’s energy and the divine.

The crown chakra is special because its location is not necessarily in the body, but above it. The crown chakra sits at the top of or above your head. Its location represents our consciousness’s ability to become one with the higher consciousness. With this in mind, it’s safe to assume the crown chakra influences your pineal gland, which is connected to your third eye chakra. The crown’s chakra location is also connected to the root chakra's location, as both chakras represent the start and end of your energetic field.

Each of the seven chakras has special associations and attributes that set them apart. The chakras are associated with a traditional Sanskrit name, a color, a location, body parts, mantras, an element, and a hertz frequency. Knowing these associations can help you tap in and work with a specific chakra. Here’s what’s associated with the crown chakra:

• Color: Purple and white
• Location: Very top of your head or above your head
• Body Parts: Pituitary gland, pineal, and hypothalamus

How do you know if your chakra is energetically healthy or unhealthy? Your crown chakra will come up if you have a purple aura or white aura.

An unhealthy crown chakra feels muddied, out of alignment, and closed off. Your unhealthy crown chakra will have an extremity, either cutting you off from divinity or sucking you in. If you’re cut off, you may struggle trusting that you’re on the right path. Being cut off from source means your crown chakra is struggling with patience, trust, or surrendering. You may have little faith in your spirit guides, your spiritual journey, or the signs that caution you. On the other hand, your crown chakra will be weakened if you’re overly involved in the spiritual realm. Losing your grasp on reality can leave you susceptible to a psychic spiral, or a mental health crisis. Illusion, delusion, and confusion will persist if you’re unable to detach from the spiritual side of things.
