Aztec Obsidian Athame
These Aztec athames are replicas of the historic Mayan/Aztec Sacrificial knife, called Tecpatl. This Athame is made using the traditional pre-Hispanic chipping technique.
Hand-carved from black Obsidian from the Cerro de Las Navajas mines in Hidalgo, Mexico, which have been used since pre-Columbian times.
Black Obsidian is technically not a crystal, but a volcanic glass, or an amorphous solid. It is formed when volcanic lava cools quickly.
